Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard believes the club’s new signings can help boost their goal return and fire them up the league.

The National League side have brought back striker Jamie Lucas to the club from Bristol Rovers and signed Delano Sam-Yorke on loan from Forest Green Rovers.

Their arrivals follows the recent signing of Jordan Chiedozie from Cambridge United, and Garrard believes the trio will enhance their goal threat.

Garrard said: “We are familiar with Jamie and have been monitoring his progress. It’s good we’ve been able to get the deal over the line. He has done well with us in two previous spells and hope he can continue that.

“Delano has played at this level for three or four years. It has not gone so well at Forest Green but hopefully he can come in and we can get his confidence back up.”

The Wood boss continued: “I feel all three of them will give us more opportunities to get goals. The chairman has been brilliant in backing me and we’ve been able to get most of our business done early.

“Our defensive record is the fifth best in the division but our goals for is the third worst. If we can address that and get some more goals then I’m sure we will win more than we lose.

“Our defensive record is very good but we do need to score more goals. I feel with the additions we’ve made they will bring that in the final third and hopefully can hit the ground running."

It has also been a busy week of outgoing activity with striker Mustafa Tiryaki moving to Turkish club Manisa Büyüksehir Belediye Spor Kulübü for an undisclosed fee. Striker Charlie MacDonald has also joined National League South side St Albans City on loan.

Garrard said: “Mustafa came in and did okay but he wanted to move back to Turkey and there was a good return for the club.”

He added: “Charlie could not commit to training in the day time which did not fit into our plans. He was only able to come to evenings and I just felt the other strikers we brought would be more beneficial to the club especially being able to commit to all the training.”

Wood host Eastleigh tomorrow and their opponents are fresh off their FA Cup third round replay defeat at Championship strugglers Bolton.

Garrard said: “Eastleigh have done ever so well to take a Championship club to a third round replay. The result was favouring them and they were unfortunate not to take it to extra time.

“They have a very good squad but we also have a good squad and I would expect an entertaining game."
