Boreham Wood will look to play their Cards right on Saturday as high-flying Woking arrive at Meadow Park in the first of two Bank Holiday weekend fixtures.

The Cards' start to the season has been formidable, stringing four straight wins together after an opening-day defeat at the hands of Tranmere Rovers.

Garry Hill's side are carrying on where they left off last season after their seventh-place finish saw them finish three points shy of a play-off place.

Ian Allinson has the opportunity to shuffle his deck against the National League's second-placed side, who trail Forest Green Rovers by three points at this early stage.

Former Chelsea midfielder Billy Clifford will be available once more after suspension, whilst strikers Junior Morias and Charlie MacDonald are both approaching full match fitness.

The loss of Jamie Lucas on Saturday against Tranmere Rovers to a hamstring problem was a blow, yet his replacement Harry Crawford performed admirably up front on his own and notched his second of the campaign.

Woking were also beaten at Prenton Park but of far great significane was the new striker Scott Rendell would be ruled out for the season with knee ligament damage. A fund totalling more than £10,000 has been set up since to cover the cost.

However, boss Hill has been quick to strengthen with the signing of Dan Holman on loan from Colchester United.

That addition looks like a good piece of business already after Holman scored in Woking's 5-2 win over Chester on Saturday - his second since moving from the Essex club.

Further wins against Bromley, Altrincham and Torquay United complete the Cards' 12-point haul from five games.

Other recent signings include former Barnet defender Ismail Yakabu, signed from Newport County at the start of the season after four years in Wales.

Another defender, Brian Saah, will be well-known to Wood new-boys Scott Doe and Luke Howell, who both played with the 28-year-old for two years at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Woking are a relatively settled side who have played together for some time. Striker Guiseppe Sole epitomises that continuity, having started his career at Woking's Academy.

Aside for a short spell at Havant and Waterlooville and some loan spells, the forward has spent his whole career at Kingfield Stadium.

His brace spelled the end of the Wood's interest in the FA Cup last season in a closely-fought game in Surrey.

Boreham Wood have met Woking seven times in the last decade and are still waiting to taste victory; five victories going the way of the cards and two meetings ending in draws.

On Monday Allinson's side are back on the road as they travel to Dover Athletic for a 3pm kick-off in Kent.
