Arsenal boss Pedro Martinez Losa has called for focus as his side prepare for a crunch clash with Chelsea Ladies on Sunday in their bid to win the Women's Super League

The Gunners will meet the Blues for the second time in seven days at Borehamwood's Meadow Park after the two teams went toe-to-toe in the Women's Super League Cup at Wheatsheaf Park last Sunday; Arsenal landing the first psychological blow with a 2-0 victory thanks to a brace from Spanish forward Marta Corredera.

Both sides will undoubtedly place greater emphasis on the significance of this fixture, though, with Chelsea sitting top of the pile just two points ahead of their London rivals, who head into the contest in third place.

Previewing the clash, Arsenal manager Martinez Losa insisted his team must remain focused on the task in hand if they are to go all the way this season.

“What we can do as a team is just stay focused on playing good football and doing the right things on the pitch because if we are too focused on the table, you can lose the concentration.

“Because we have a lot of young players, too much pressure can be difficult for them. Pressure and Arsenal go hand in hand because it is a top-level club, but we have to be focused on the football, the training and giving the players confidence to respond better."

The former Rayo Vallecano Femenino head coach continued: “We work to make our fans proud of the team, to make our fans happy, to make our fans have good days, to make our fans believe in the team and that’s been our main objective since the start of the season.

“Last season the team was not great at home. We just won one game at home but now our record is better."

A victory for the north Londoners in Borehamwood could see them leapfrog the current leaders into first place with three matches to play, providing Sunderland fail to gain all three points when they come up against Birmingham City on Sunday.

Chelsea come into the fixture fresh from a 4-0 home win over Birmingham City as well as victory in the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in the previous week; all prior to their defeat to Arsenal in the WSL Cup.

Title rivals Sunderland remain one point above the Gunners in second position and a point below the leaders Chelsea. Martinez Losa has been full of praise for the side aiming to spoil his own title ambitions.

“I’ve been really impressed with them but in football these things happen," he said. "You create a good group, they work hard with a great unity and togetherness, play with clear ideas and when they go onto the pitch it doesn’t matter who they play, it’s just 11 v 11”

“Whether it’s Chelsea or Manchester City, they will always fight for each other and that’s very important."
