Arsenal Ladies remain on course for the knockout stages of the FA Women's Super League Cup after a comfortable 2-0 victory at Chelsea on Sunday.

The Gunners, who play their home games at Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park, picked up where they left off in the competition after winning 3-1 at London Bees last time out.

Victory leaves Pedro Martinez Losa’s side top of Group 1 with nine points from nine.

Spanish midfielder Marta Corredera, recruited from Barcelona, scored both goals, the first of which came in the 38th minute.

Corredera capitalised on errors both by the Chelsea goalkeeper and defence to comfortably slot the ball past Marie Hourihan in the Blues goal.

Arsenal could hardly believe their luck as they were then gifted a similar goal for their second; another defensive calamity, this time between Chelsea forward Ana Borges and goalkeeper Hourihan, allowing Corredera to double up.

Chelsea improved after the break, but efforts on the Arsenal goal were repelled by Sari Van Veenendaal, who denied any clear-cut Chelsea opportunitiesto maintain her clean sheet.

The Gunners are next at Meadow Park on Sunday when they host the same opposition in the Women’s Super League.
