England forward Lianne Sanderson has completed her return to Arsenal Ladies.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a hugely successful time during her first spell at the club.

Sanderson helped Arsenal Ladies, who play their games in Boreham Wood, win five titles, four Women’s FA Cups and the Uefa Women’s Cup during her first stint at the club.

Speaking to the club website, Sanderson said: “I’m so pleased to be coming back to the club I call home. I’ve got some fantastic memories of playing for Arsenal such as winning the quadruple in 2007.

“I grew up learning the game at Arsenal from the age of eight and I get a real sense of pride every time I pull on the Arsenal shirt, so I can’t wait to get started.

Sanderson added: “I’m also really excited to be able to work with Pedro Martinez Losa, as I know all about his qualities from his time in the United States.

“There is a great spirit at the club and I’m really looking forward to returning to one of the best clubs in the world.”

Sanderson has returned to England after playing football in America for Boston Breakers, Philadelphia Independence and DC United Women.

Her most recent club was Apollon in Cyprus in their recent UWCL campaign.

Arsenal manager Martinez said: “Lianne is a player of outstanding quality. She is quick, strong, a great finisher – she has everything that you could require from a top striker.

“I know her abilities well from her time in the United States and in Spain with Espanyol, and I am confident that she will prove a big asset to the team.”

Arsenal will be hoping Sanderson can help them up the table next season after the side finished fourth in the Super League.
