Hertsmere MP Oliver Dowden has pledged to champion access for disabled people following a visit to a care home.
Mr Dowden met with residents with severe disabilities at New Court Place care home in Borehamwood.
The residents shared their frustration and anger at not being able to access shops and public transport in Borehamwood, as well as concerns about pavement maintenance in the area.
Mr Dowden said: "I am very concerned that there are still shops and restaurants who do not have wheelchair friendly access, that buses and taxis can be inaccessible and that poor pavement surfaces pose a danger each time residents venture outdoors.
"I intend to champion these issues at borough and county level. I will also be approaching the local ward councillors to arrange an introduction to the residents so that we can work together to see these issues resolved. "
