Police investigating a dangerous dog out of control in Borehamwood are appealing for witnesses and information.

The incident occurred at about 2.10pm on Tuesday, July 14 in the Watling Chase Timberland Trail, off Beechfield Close.

A woman in her 70s was walking her Bichon Frise and Labrador dogs when they were approached by a black Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

The terrier attacked the Bichon Frise, before the woman managed to separate the two dogs.

The owner of the terrier, who is described as a white man, aged in his early 40s, around 5ft 5ins tall, of broad build and with brown, receding hair, came over and took the dog away but refused to provide his details.

The terrier is believed to be called Daisy and had a white patch over its face.

The Bichon Frise sustained lacerations but is expected to make a full recovery.

PC Rhys Cordy is investigating and said: “Thankfully the victim’s dog wasn’t seriously injured but this incident could have resulted in the woman sustaining an injury herself, hence why we wish to locate the owner of the terrier as soon as possible.

“I would ask anyone who believes they know the identity of the man who was with the terrier at the time of the incident to contact me as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org
