Groups that need cash to help get community safety schemes off the ground are being invited to apply for funding.

A £125,000 pot is available for bids from individuals, community groups or businesses across Hertfordshire to make applications for financial backing for their safety schemes.

The money comes from the Commissioner’s Community Fund, which has opened once again for the fourth round of bids since it was first launched last year.

Police and crime commissioner David Lloyd is seeking bids for funding from projects and schemes which focus on the needs of the public, particularly in the areas of crime prevention, offenders making amends and paying back for the cost of their crimes.

He said: “Since the Commissioner’s Community Fund was launched last year, dozens of schemes have received funding that either contribute to community safety or support people who have been victims of crime. As a result, groups that have received funding already have been able to get schemes off the ground or expand their services – effectively taking their good ideas to the next level.

“Once again, I would like to hear about projects and schemes that support Hertfordshire’s Police and Crime Plan. This could range from those who are seeking small-scale purchases or offering services that will improve communities, to big ideas needing match-funding.”

A funding application form is available online at the Commissioner’s website: http://hertscommissioner.org/my_plan/community_fund.aspx or applicants can contact Commissioner Lloyd’s office on 01707 806100.

All bids must relate to this financial year and be submitted by September 30.
